Hi everyone. Many of you already know that on Friday, Nov 28th, there was a fire in the barn attached to my apartment. Because the barn and apartment were structurally connected — including shared airflow pathways and connected drains — smoke, heat, and the chemicals used during suppression moved quickly into the living space. Within moments, the apartment became unsafe, and I had to be evacuated immediately. This created an unexpected emergency that displaced me overnight, and I remain displaced.
What most people don’t realize is that when a fire happens—even in another part of a building—it dangerously contaminates everything. Smoke, soot, and suppression chemicals seep into clothing, bedding, cookware, electronics, supplements, toiletries, and even luggage. Every item has to be professionally assessed, documented, cleaned, or declared unsalvageable before insurance can move forward. That process takes time. During that entire period, I’m without nearly all of my belongings and daily essentials.
I want to be transparent: I DO have renter’s insurance, but insurance also doesn’t immediately kick in, nor cover the daily reality of displacement. The claim can’t move forward until remediation and inventory are complete, and I need to replace certain essentials now in order to work, communicate, and stay healthy & stable.
This experience has been physically and emotionally overwhelming. And it is financially devastating.
This fundraiser will help me stabilize during this unexpected displacement, replace essential items I cannot live or work without, support my health while my routines and tools are disrupted, and give me a soft, steady place to land while the longer insurance process plays out.
I know this is a hard season for so many people, and asking for help is not easy. If you’re able to donate, share, or simply send encouragement, I’m deeply grateful. Your support helps me breathe a little easier in the middle of something traumatizing, overwhelming and unexpected.
Thank you for seeing me, for caring, and for helping me find my footing again as I navigate this.
With love,
Angela

Fundraiser Update – One Month Later
I wanted to share an update, because while a month has passed since my last post, this situation is still very much ongoing.
I am still displaced and living in temporary housing. The fire itself was a single event—but the aftermath is a long, layered process, and I’m learning (and unlearning) patience in real time.
At this stage, insurance has my full inventory of contents. That includes the detailed documentation of what was lost or rendered unusable, and they are actively working through it now. This part of the process is slow by nature—each item has to be reviewed, categorized, valued, and approved—and it can still be several more weeks before that portion is complete.
In the meantime, life continues in a kind of in-between space. I’m navigating temporary living, limited access to my normal routines, and the emotional weight that comes with prolonged displacement. Some days feel steady and grounded; others feel tender and uncertain. Both are part of this season.
I wanted to share this update not to alarm anyone, but to offer clarity and transparency. Healing, rebuilding, and resolution don’t happen all at once after a fire—they unfold in stages, and I am still very much in the middle of them.
Thank you, from the deepest part of my heart, to everyone who has supported me, checked in, shared kind words, or contributed in any way. Your care continues to make a real difference as I move through this process, one step at a time.
