It is with an exceedingly heavy heart that we have to create this donation page in honor of our amazing family member and friend, Bill Phillips.
Bill was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in March of 2021 which is a rare and extremely aggressive form of blood cancer. He endured seven rounds of intense Chemotherapy that began just one week after his diagnosis, followed by a 100 day process of a Bone Marrow Transplant. Bill fought hard and strong until November 30th (day 97 of 100) where he was tragically diagnosed with AML for a second time. While accepting that he would have to face this whole process all over again, Bill was prepared to fight to the end.
This time around, treatment did not take, and the cancer continued to spread. His doctors gave the dreadful news that even if the second rounds of Chemotherapy put him in remission, his body was too weak. He would not be eligible for another Bone Marrow Transplant.
After a long month in the hospital and having to spend the winter holidays in suffrage, it was apparent what the next step was. Bill and his family made the devastating decision to discontinue treatment.
Bill came home on January 14th, 2022 to live out his remaining days in the comfort of his own home, with his family.
He sorrowfully left this earth early morning on January 28th, 2022 at the young age of 66. Exactly two weeks after coming home.
Our beloved friend Bill was a family man, South Bay dentist, avid surfer since age 14, absolute goofball, animal loving, sunset chasing, guitar strumming, USC die-hard fanatic. He had a smile that could like up any room and a heart of gold that everyone felt and loved dearly. He and his wife Terri invited anyone and everyone into their home and made each of us feel like family.
He was the kindest, most compassionate and gentle man we have ever known and we hope that his legacy will continue to live on forever through us and his family. By creating this platform, our hopes are to provide some comfort and ease. We want to help the Phillips family in any way possible while they continue to try and heal from this heart breaking experience.
