Hi everyone,
I am reaching out today for one of the most important people in my life—my mom. She has been battling Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) since i was a child. Unfortunately her GFR "Glomerular Filtration Rate" has dropped extremely low so it is urgent that she gets a transplant.
She is the best mom i could have asked for and i will do anything in my power to make sure she is around as long as possible. Not just for me but for her granddaughter, I want her to be able to grow up with her grandma in her life. We recently found out the best possible news, that I am a perfect match. So I have decided to be her donor because I wouldn't be here without her. We have the will to fight this. However, we have run into one massive hurdle that we cannot clear alone.
To be cleared for the transplant, the hospital requires a strict medical aftercare plan. Because complications can happen in the critical months following surgery, My mom must live within 15 minutes of the transplant hospital for at least six months post-operation. We are currently waiting to find out which center will perform the surgery, meaning she will need to temporarily relocate to a rental property in either Los Angeles, California; Las Vegas,Nevada or Phoenix, Arizona.
Between the cost of short-term housing, mandatory expenses, and the fact that we will both be recovering from major surgery, the financial burden is overwhelming. We are trying to raise $20,000 exclusively to cover her relocation, cost of living, and medical aftercare expenses during those crucial six months.
We have the chance to save her life, and I am ready to give her a piece of mine to make that happen. But we truly cannot do this without a village behind us.
