Hey friends, long time no chat (post). These words took me a long time to compose and it would mean the world if you could stick around for them. All of my life, I was taught and told that I am undeserving of help and rest. The past four years of running a small business was no exception to that motto.

Through various challenges, I ended up managing an unsustainable workload, navigating and tolerating unreasonable demands that went beyond my professional boundaries. My mental health, living situation, and stress finally reached a breaking point that resulted in a complete collapse for the better part of a year. I completely retreated from my passion for providing community spaces, hosting events, and creating art. I had tried to keep up and just ended up with inconsistent schedules and severe health issues.

Thanks to the endless support of my loved ones, I was able to exit the dangerous situations in my life and fought my way to a better place. After getting situated and regaining cognitive space, I feel ready and motivated to push forward yet again; this time not alone and with proper bandwidth.

During my hiatus, medical bills and unfortunate landlord situations created a significant burden to me and my team. Our landlord neglected to inform us of various structural issues and we had a pipe burst during the coldest month of the year that resulted in us having to cancel and reschedule clients. And now I am reaching towards the community for help.

I have set up a crowdsourcing link to help cover the damages from the pipe burst and other various equipment. We are grateful for any amount. Any donations over $100 can be matched in future tattoos with me (@snayke.tattoo) and Caro (@caroxtattoos).

If you reached this far, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for taking the time to read this post, for continuing to actively or silently support me, and for being the reason I love my job so much.

Hello all,

We are very happy that Friday the 13th went AMAZINGLY despite both of our heaters being out for the past month.

Currently I am still actively in contact with the landlords' management team regarding negotiating something that works going forward. There has been many of you that are kind to send me resources for legal consultation as well as new spaces to look at.

Those are all options that Cake is currently considering as we navigate through this situation.

Seeing old and new faces pop up at today's event has been incredible. We will keep updating on the situation via here and our instagram.

I just finished up with some work and got a chance to glance at the notifications. I am absolutely floored and beyond grateful that it's already gotten this far within a day.

All the kind words are uplifting me and dispelling a lot of the fear and isolation I have felt. I am so deeply grateful for all of you. Seeing how the community is showing up is motivating me even more to keep pushing forward.

Some update on the situation:

The landlord after months of claiming that they will repair stuctures have essentially just said that they do not want to deal with it.

These funds will help us survive our current situation. Me and Caro have the intention to start looking for other spaces. If anyone knows of good spaces or any helpful information please reach out to me!

PS: Truly this is my first time dealing with a landlord *like this* in NYC. I guess we just got lucky in prior spaces :c
