Anthony, a sweet and quiet 16 year old kid has been living with a debilitating disease for his entire life. At 5 years old, he was diagnosed with Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy, which is a progressive disease that weakens the muscles throughout the body. Throughout his life, he has slowly lost the ability to walk, leaving him wheelchair bound since 8 years old, lost the use of most of his arms besides a little movement in his hands, and now, has left him with a weak heart as well. The last week in October, he caught pneumonia and due to his disease, it left him hospitalized unable to clear the mucus in his lungs. Due to his already weakened state, on Halloween he suffered a cardiac arrest. While doctors were able to get him back, it has left him on a ventilator and medications to help keep him going. At this time, it is extremely tough on him and his family being that dad, mom and stepmom have other children at home and had to return to work and life duties. He has been in the hospital for around a month now and at this time just got transferred to Columbia Medical center in Manhattan to be evaluated to be place a permanent breathing tube and possibly a heart surgery to allow him to hopefully go home in the near future and not be stuck in a hospital. This time has been extremely harrowing on his family as they have been spending every free moment they can up at the hospital with him. With this transfer, it is going to be extremely hard on his family to go to work, being that he is so far away. We are asking for help for them to help with medical costs, travel and lodging in the city and prayers. This kid has been pushing through every day with the strength of 10 men to be able to go back home and be with his family. Any support and prayers you are able to give is very much appreciated.
