My name is Brodie Altman and I’m in the 10th grade at Kellam High School in Virginia Beach, VA. I have earned a spot to represent the state of Virginia on the 2023 Virginia National Wrestling Team at two separate events. These events are in the Olympic Styles of Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. I will compete for Team Virginia in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Junior National Duals June 11-17, 2023 against teams from 35 other states. After that I will return home and train hard for a month and then travel to Fargo, North Dakota on July 15-22 to wrestle for the Virginia National Team at the Junior National Wrestling Championships, to compete against wrestlers from all 50 states. This is the largest tournament in the U.S. and one of the most prestigious wrestling tournaments in the world for 17-18 year olds.
I have been wrestling since I was 6 years old. I placed 3rd at the VHSL 6A State tournament this year as a sophomore. I recently placed 5th at the North-East Regional Championship in Atlantic City, completing my goal of qualifying for Fargo. Through these experiences I have learned discipline, commitment, consistency, and the rewards of sacrifice and hard work. One of my goals is to wrestle in college. The experience and knowledge gained from competing on the Virginia National Wrestling Team will help me get closer towards achieving these goals.
I am asking for your support towards my cost of competing for Virginia at these events. The money fundraised here will help with traveling costs, lodging, meals, required gear package, tournament entry fees and Virginia National Team training camp expenses.
In these demanding economic times, any and all donations are greatly appreciated. I will represent you and the state of Virginia well with my efforts at the national wrestling tournaments. Please share this!
Sincerely,
Brodie Altman
