Last Saturday Thelma, we thought, went into labor. After 12 hours and no baby we were worried something was wrong, so we took her to A&M. She was not in labor but suffered from ketosis or pregnancy toxemia. It most often affects does pregnant with twins or triplets and is characterized by low blood sugar (glucose). Her Keytone level was at such a high level we had to do a C-section and lost both babies. Thelma had to be in the ICU for several days for treatment. Thelma will be back on Saturday and we expect a full recovery. Her long hospital say was ran up about a $2000 dollar bill. It was not money I was expecting to spend while I have started other projects around the barn.
Many of you have offered to chip in on her bill. She is a barn mascot and that is why I got sucked into her recovery. I will also be castrating Pickels....I am done with the baby goat experiment. Thank you for any help you can provide.
