Dear family and friends, as many of you know Andrea visited an alternative doctor in Houston Texas July 2023. Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski has a different stance on how to treat cancer compared to many “mainstream” doctors. We instantly loved his mantra which is… “first do no harm”. His idea of treating cancer is not to put every chemical (chemo) into your body killing both good and bad (cancer) cells. Rather their clinic does research using personal DNA and base their recommendations for treatment on patients genetic makeup which often times leads to using off label drugs. Due to this different view point he has been highly criticized and persecuted by our modern medical world. He has cured dozens of incurable people and yet the FDA will not approve his treatments. Because of lack of FDA approval insurance will not cover the cost of anything related to his services. EVERYTHING must be paid for out of pocket except for MRI’s and blood work. Andrea has since been receiving one of his treatments which she receives at home through a pump and is able to work and live life. This treatment costs $17,000 a month. As you can imagine this has been a huge financial burden but thanks to family and by the grace of God Andrea has been able to receive her treatment thus far. Dr. B now wants to add several more off label drugs to her regimen, but these will add an extra 10,000/month to the cost. So that means she will need $27,000 a month for the next several months until her scans look clear. That being said our goal is to raise as much as possible in case of future changes to her regimen. Dr. B’s goal of course is to cure Andrea and with brain tumors things can change quickly. Ultimately, we are trusting Jesus for a miracle and are ready to shout it from the rooftops when it does happen, but in the meantime we are proactively waiting and using the Lords leading on which treatments to do and which Doctors to trust. Andrea's Diagnosis and backstory…
In June 2018, Andrea was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma Brain tumor grade 3 after experiencing months of consistent headaches and whooshing in her ear. Surgery to remove the tumor was successful and radiation and Chemo followed for the next 12 months. Unfortunately, after close to 3 years the tumor returned in May 2022, prompting another surgery. This was followed by another round of radiation and a call from the doctors for another 12 months of chemo. There were many highs and lows throughout the process, but the lowest low was on her 3rd round of chemo when she broke out in a horrible allergic reaction to the chemo. This allergic reaction then set her and her family on a journey to find an alternative treatment to the traditional chemo and radiation. Andrea felt that the allergic reaction was her body’s way of telling her to stop putting poison into it. It was then Andrea and her family made the courageous decision to stop the chemo and began trying some alternative methods that were outside many mainstream doctors’ realms of thinking. Andrea wouldn’t not have been able to make the difficult decision if it were not for the wonderful support of her family and the love of Jesus. He is holding her hand, walking her step by treacherous step through this journey. His Heavenly Peace has carried her through every decision. She has now opted to receive an alternative treatment from a clinic in Houston Texas. She plans to continue with this new treatment plan until the Houston clinic feels there is no more risk of tumor recurrence. Thank you for your prayers and monetary support!
