This May, I will be running the Maine Coast Marathon while raising money for Squash Dreamers, a U.S. registered 501 (c) 3 organization based in Amman, Jordan. This organization is dedicated to empowering refugee girls through sports, education, and well-being support. They work with 50 girls, aged 8-18, who are Syrian, Jordanian, Palestinian, and Sudanese, as part of their long-term, holistic program based in the heart of the community. To learn more about their work, visit their website here.
Part of the money raised will fund two volunteers, including myself, to travel to Amman this summer to volunteer with the organization for six weeks. Additionally, the money raised will fund resources to help carry out Squash Dreamers' summer program. With the money raised, I will assist in implementing a new mental health curriculum to expand the well-being programming and pilot a community impact project to create opportunities for grassroots social change and engagement.
