Nolita is known for its carefully curated boutiques and cafes. But it's also home to one of New York City's most historic cathedrals: the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, on the corner of Mott and Prince Streets.
Completed in 1815, Old St. Patrick's predates its more famous midtown namesake by more than 60 years.
The church was designated a New York City landmark in 1966, and the cathedral complex was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
The church has been featured in several feature films. The Godfather's famous baptism scene was shot at Old St. Pat's, as were scenes from Martin Scorcese's Mean Streets.
Old St. Patrick's is currently undergoing an extensive restoration, with work being done to the bell tower, stained-glass windows, catacombs and brick-walled graveyard.
Old St. Patrick's Cathedral needs your help to continue to serve its faith community.
With your help, the church can use these funds to support its restoration efforts and to help in other areas of Parish life. Please show your support by making a contribution.
