Help Our Family Stay Together and Safe
Hello, my name is Shakira, and I’m a mom of two beautiful little ones. I’m starting this fundraiser because my family is in a very difficult financial situation, and we’re doing everything we can to stay strong and keep a roof over our heads.
Last year, my husband and I made a huge move from Arizona to the East Coast with nothing but faith and determination. We drove four days across the country with a 2-year-old and a newborn baby, hoping to find a better future. But we didn’t have the money to make that move so we had to rely on credit cards to cover gas, food, and hotels. That debt has followed us every day since.
When we arrived, we were homeless for six months living with family, sleeping in hotels, and sometimes staying in our car. It was one of the hardest seasons of our lives. But my husband never gave up. He worked tirelessly and eventually found us a small place to call home. We had to borrow money just to cover the first and last month’s rent, but we finally felt like we could breathe again.
Now, that pressure has returned. My husband works 7 days a week, from 7 AM to 7 PM, just to keep us afloat. He rarely sees the kids and has no time to rest. Despite all his effort, we’re drowning in credit card interest. The debt from our move has made it nearly impossible to keep up. We’re falling behind on rent again, and we’re terrified of being homeless with our children once more.
We’re not asking for luxury. We just want stability. We want our children to feel safe, to have a home, and for my husband to come home and rest without fear of bills we can’t pay. We are doing everything we can, but we truly need help.

All donations will go directly toward helping our family catch up on rent and avoid eviction. They will also help us pay down the high-interest credit card debt we’ve been carrying since our move, which is keeping us from living paycheck to paycheck. Your support will give us the chance to finally breathe, focus on caring for our children, and give my husband a break from working 12-hour days, 7 days a week. Even a small gift can help us stay in our home, keep the lights on, and begin to rebuild a stable life for our family. Every dollar brings us closer to security and hope.
