Hello everyone,
As many of you know, my husband, Ryan “Heath” Elliott, is a Marine combat veteran who served during a heavy wartime period from 1999–2003. During his service, he experienced and was part of deeply traumatic events that have stayed with him ever since.
For more than 20 years, Heath has quietly battled PTSD, TBI and the lasting effects of war. Like many veterans, the transition from combat to civilian life was not easy. He came home and stepped straight into being a father and raising our family, doing his best to carry the weight of both worlds at once.
For a long time, he coped the only ways he knew how, through alcohol and marijuana, which took a toll on himself and our family. In 2016, he made a life-changing decision to get help at Warriors Heart. That’s where he got sober and met his service dog, Ace, who many of you know and love. Heath has remained sober ever since, which is something we are incredibly proud of.
But even with sobriety, the battle in his mind has never stopped.
In 2024, Heath went through a deeply life-altering event that significantly worsened his PTSD. Since then, he has been struggling more than ever with severe anxiety, constant flashbacks and the overwhelming mental weight that comes with it. Watching someone you love fight that kind of invisible war every single day is heartbreaking.
After years of trying to get meaningful help through the VA with little success beyond medications, we’ve been searching and praying for true healing.
Our hope is in Jesus, and we trust that He is guiding our steps in this journey. We believe He has opened the door for Heath to pursue Ibogaine treatment, which we first learned about through the documentary “In Waves & War.” This treatment has shown powerful results for veterans struggling with PTSD and trauma when other options have failed.
Heath has been accepted to receive treatment in Malta, but unfortunately, it is not covered by insurance, and we have not received any scholarships at this time. The total cost of the trip and treatment is around $20,000.
Heath is a husband, a father of six, a business owner and someone who has so much life left to live. But every day is a fight for him and we want to give him a real chance at peace.
If you feel led to support Heath on his journey to healing, we would be incredibly grateful for any donation. If you’re unable to give, your prayers mean just as much to our family.
Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for standing with us.
