Birthing Revolution:

The Midwifery Movement and the Power of Natural Birth

About the Documentary

Birthing Revolution is a feature-length documentary celebrating the resurgence of midwifery and natural childbirth. This film seeks to educate, inspire, and empower women by presenting midwifery as a safe, compassionate, and deeply personal alternative to the conventional, fear-based medical model of childbirth.

Through moving stories, insightful interviews, and expert perspectives, Birthing Revolution will:

Dispel Misconceptions – Address common fears and misunderstandings surrounding midwifery and natural birth.
Promote Midwifery – Highlight midwives’ rigorous training, professionalism, and ability to create a supportive and safe birthing environment.
Celebrate Natural Birth – Show the beauty, empowerment, and confidence that come from trusting a woman’s natural ability to give birth.
Inspire Change – Encourage women to explore options beyond the institutionalized norm, empowering them to make informed decisions for their birth experiences.

Anchored by the emotional journey of a mother transitioning from a traumatic hospital birth to a joyful, natural birth with a midwife, this documentary offers a powerful and hopeful message.

By giving toward this film, not only will you be supporting the midwife community, but also be supplying women with the educational resources they need to make an informed decision

Why This Documentary Matters

For too long, childbirth has been dominated by fear-based narratives and institutional practices that often leave women feeling disempowered and disconnected. Birthing Revolution is a call to rethink and reclaim birth as a natural, life-affirming process that honors both the mother and the baby.

Whether you're a midwife, a natural-minded parent, or someone who believes in empowering women, this film will serve as a beacon of hope and education for families everywhere.

Meet the Director & Producer: Caleb Phipps

My name is Caleb Phipps, and I’m a filmmaker based in the Texas Panhandle. As a father of four, this documentary is deeply personal to me. My wife and I experienced both sides of childbirth: two traumatic hospital births followed by two transformative and empowering experiences at a birthing center with midwives.

This contrast ignited my passion to share the story of midwifery and natural childbirth with the world. With over a decade of filmmaking experience, I’ve produced projects that tell meaningful stories, including Student of Revival and Little Image Bearers.

I’m committed to creating a visually stunning and emotionally impactful film that will resonate with mothers, midwives, and advocates for natural childbirth alike.

Featuring Amazing Midwives

This film will include interviews with experienced midwives from diverse backgrounds, each bringing unique insights into the beauty, safety, and empowerment of midwifery care. These midwives will share their knowledge, stories, and perspectives on natural childbirth, helping to dispel myths and educate the public on the life-changing work they do.

(We’re finalizing the midwives who will be featured—stay tuned for updates!)

How Your Support Will Make a Difference

Creating a documentary of this scale requires funding for:

Filming and Equipment – Ensuring professional quality visuals and sound.
Travel Costs – Visiting midwives, birth centers, and mothers for interviews.
Post-Production – Editing, sound design, and music to create an inspiring final product.
Distribution – Sharing this film with as many people as possible through festivals, screenings, and online platforms.

Our goal is to raise $40,000 to cover production costs. If just 400 people contribute $100, we will reach our target. Every dollar counts, and your contribution—big or small—will help bring this vision to life.

Once the funds are raised, filming will begin immediately. Your support directly accelerates the timeline to get this powerful story in front of the world.

Ways to Support

Donate – Contribute in honor of a midwife who has impacted your life or to support a pregnant mother making informed and empowered choices for her birth. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps!
Spread the Word – Share this campaign with your community, friends, and family who care about empowering women and promoting natural childbirth.
Partner with Us – Midwives and birth centers, this is your chance to be part of a film that champions your work! If you’re interested in being featured or sponsoring, please contact us.

Join the Movement

Together, we can reclaim childbirth as a natural, empowering process. Birthing Revolution isn’t just a film—it’s a celebration of life, women, and the timeless art of midwifery.
