CHATTANOOGA JUST APPROVED OUR FIRST LEGAL DIY SKATEPARK!
We have the space secured, we have the crew to help build, we have backing from several local organizations, we have city approval and We have the DREAM! All we need now is the cash to make REAL!
My Name Is Nicholas Moore, Owner of Cassette Skate Shop in the Saint Elmo historic district. I have been actively involved in the Chattanooga skate community for nearly 30 years and have organized and hosted over 30 community events.
Cassette Skate Shop opened its doors in November of 2022 to support and grow the Chattanooga skate community by offering a welcoming atmosphere, hosting video nights, competitions, park clean-up events, community rides in conjunction with Two Bikes, and more. The main focus of the shop is community.
I recently submitted a proposal to the owners of the property next to the shop, stating my hope to develop a pop-up skate plaza on. The plans included details regarding the construction of the skate plaza which prompted a contact With the city Chattanooga Parks Department to cover liability for the project. This was a huge win!
The Chatt Town Skate Park will be closed for renovations soon leaving a void in our city for the skate community. Additionally, it is currently illegal to skateboard in the City of Chattanooga. This skate plaza will fill the void and create a safe and legal community space to skateboard until the new skate park is open.
I have received word that the contract was approved and is also being supported by the St Elmo Historic District committee. Earlier this month the City Council approved the project and WE ARE A GO! This is where we could use your help. We Need to raise $10,000 to cover everything we need to get this pocket plaza to become a reality!
This Project will not only provide a safe and encouraging atmosphere for the Chattanooga skate community, it will open us up to offering skate after school programs, partnering with local community centers for learn to skate clinics, but most importantly it will further our mission to grow and improve our community!
