On Monday, January 29th, what we all had hoped was a huge mistake, sadly became true. After days of testing, scans, biopsies, and bloodwork, it was confirmed that Tracy has colon cancer that has spread to her liver.
Exactly one week prior, she checked herself into Island Hospital after speaking on the phone with her doctor and being advised to seek immediate medical attention for some symptoms she was having. Images done at Island showed a mass in her colon, and lesions in her liver.
The following day she was transported to Swedish Hospital in Seattle. On Wednesday, her GI doctor placed two stents to help drain her bile that had been building up and causing an infection in her liver.
On Thursday they did a colonoscopy as well as an EUS/Upper GI (Endoscopic Ultrasound) and biopsies of the colon and liver to find out if the cancer had originated in the colon, and to confirm that it was the same type.
Tracy is home now with her doggies and she is handling everything so well.
We have a long road ahead, but we know Tracy has a huge support system and we know how many people love and care for her.
I decided to put together a fundraiser to help cover the cost of her co-pay, travel costs, anything not covered by insurance, any unknown costs that I'm sure we'll encounter down the road - we're all so new we still don't know what to expect, but we're taking this day by day, and Tracy's attitude has been nothing short of amazing.
Thank you all for reaching out as well as offering help, support, and prayers.
