Hello my name is Heather and I live in NC with my husband, our 3 kids, and my disabled vietnam veteran mother Mary. My husband and I and our kids have lived with mom for about 7 years now because she is completely disabled and mostly wheelchair bound. The reason we moved in with her was to take care of her. That is my job as her daughter is to take care of her just like she took care of me growing up! My mom is my whole world aside from my kids and husband, she is my best friend and I would do anything in the world for her including asking for help. Well when we moved in with her she bought a house big enough for all of us. Well when covid hit, it affected mine and my husband's money which in turn affected her being able to pay the mortgage. They foreclosed on our home and ever since the foreclosure started we have done everything imaginable to try and get some emergency help with housing or hotels. Nobody would help mom not even the VA. As a matter of fact the VA straight told her they wouldn't even THINK of helping her because she makes too much money. Meanwhile she gets a disability check. And not only that the lady at the VA told her "even if by some miracle we had decided to help you, we are NOT interested or worried about helping your family. We NEED to be with mom to take care of her. Well anyways the foreclosure went through and on the morning of July 30th 2023 the sherrif forced us from our home and we are now homeless. We have been able to get a hotel room for a few days but after that I have no idea what we are gonna do or where we are gonna go. Please please please consider donating to help us raise fund for either hotels or possibly a deposit on an apartment or home to rent. I think this is absolutely sickening the way they treat our veterans. They do NOT care about them. My mom proudly served and now she has been kicked out on the street like an animal along with us.
