My name is Athena and I’m competing in the 2027 Miss. Northeast International pageant.
When I was nine days old, I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that makes my body build up sticky mucus in my lungs. Before the new medicine, the thick fluid blocked my lungs and harmed my digestive system, making it hard for me to breathe and absorb food. While there is no cure, modern day medicine is allowing me to live a happy life!
Not all people living with CF can take the medicine I’m on, because their livers are different than mine, and the medicine makes them sicker.
My pageant platform is “Beauty Beyond the Beast” celebrating beauty, strength and confidence even though we live with this icky beast of a disease. I’m making beauty boxes to donate to the CF clinic located in Golisano Children’s Hospital. I want other other girls, like me, to feel happy and confident. Their beauty box will be filled with healthy skin and hair products, positive affirmations and a personal note from me. We are in this together 💕#untilitsdone
I’m hoping to donate an unlimited number of beauty boxes to go to the CF clinic and inpatient girls at Golisano Children’s Hospital. Having a disease and being in the hospital can bring down a girls confidence. I want to bring some glimmer and shimmer into their hearts 💞 Please help me make this happen for them, no donation is too small 🌹
