June 19, 2025 my mother was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. It was a complete shock as we thought she had strep throat. From our hometown she was airlifted to a hospital 7 hours away. Since I am the only one able to care for her, and the only child I have stepped up 100% to be her 24/7 caregiver. She is mostly bed ridden. I have to help with every single daily need. I had to go on leave from work, meaning I don’t have ANY income coming in. Not for medical insurance for myself or my 8 year old son whom I raise 100% on my own as well. We will have to make the trip again and more than once. We will have to stay within a 60 mile radius of the hospital for a minimum of 90 days. I will most likely have to virtually teach my son during this time. I am struggling. I’ve had some help from some amazing community members, but that only lasts so long. My mother has hospital, and medical bills coming out of the wazoo. I can’t get paid to be her caregiver until her portion of the bills are met. She was already living on a very restricted income before this. Her car which we were using for the appointments has just broke down. My vehicle is on the verge of being repossessed. I appreciate any and all help we receive. Prayers and good wishes welcome too!
