Thousands of lives are being lost each month...tens of thousands of families are being heart broken... tens of billions of dollars of assets and infrastructure are going up in smoke. There have been 550,000 casualties since this Ukraine war began and the counting... that is already 2½ times the casualties of dropping two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Stop the Escalation! Focus on a Path to Peace!
There will be no victors in this war, and yet there is virtually no discussion of a negotiated peace by our elected officials and governments. The media coverage is focused on death, destruction & armaments. This war was conceived by humans and can be ended by humans
Where to Begin? Reset the Black Sea Initiative
It appears impossible for Ukraine and Russia to negotiate directly across the table any time in the foreseeable future. Despite skepticism, only the UN has the Charter, resources, and expertise to facilitate and implement a peace process of this complexity. The UN played the key role of planning and implementing the first Black Sea Initiative in July 2022 to enable Ukraine and Russia to ship grain, foodstuffs and fertilizer safely to developing countries and to the global market. Russia balked at renewing the agreement in July 2023. Ukraine supplies over 50% of the grain for the World Food Program (UNWFP). Compromise is needed! For humanitarian reasons, Code Blue supports UN Secretary General Antònio Guterres and WFP Director Cindy McCain in their efforts to reset the Black Sea Initiative.
The Code Blue Movement
The Code Blue Ukraine movement will enable people from all walks of life to express their desire for peace and influence our elected officials and governments to focus more on peace.
Code Blue will achieve its goals through a digital, social media and political influencer campaign. The Code Blue logo of a UN blue dove with an olive branch is a symbolic expression of one’s desire for peace. When worn as a Peace Pin or displayed physically or virtually, it becomes both the medium and the message calling for peace. The success of the campaign depends on thoughtful people reaching out and mobilizing other thoughtful people in wider and wider circles and at higher and higher levels of influence and political decision-making.
The Code Blue Action Plan
- High Visibility Influencers: We are reaching out to the most visible, political Influencers to wear our pins and use our logo virtually to signal their support for peace to our elected officials, governments, the media, and their followers.
- Organizations: We are outreaching to service organizations like Rotary and Alliance for Peace to support Peace in Ukraine and enlisting their memberships to join the Code Blue movement by distributing our pins and using out virtual logo.
- Companies: Businesses can express that they value Peace by sponsoring promotions using our pins and virtual logos.
- United Nations: We are approaching the UN leadership, starting with Secretary General Antònio Guterres, to step up UN efforts to facilitate the peace process.
