This beautiful family has had quite a difficult adventure. Ana (mom) grew up in El Salvador. When she moved away from her dad at 12 years old, who passed away shortly after, she spent her teen years in poverty in NY City with her mother.
Her husband was from Peru and his work visa expired after being here for 2 years. He was working as a painter and between work and family, he forgot to renew his work permit. Ana had just given birth to her 4th baby at the end of December. They were released from the hospital when the baby girl was 5 days old, due to preeclamsia complications. Three days later, her husband was driving to work at 5:30 AM on a Thursday and ICE stopped him in the neighborhood. He was in dentention in El Paso for 3 months with no information. We tried to get a lawyer but he asked us not to, because the dentention center workers were further punishing people who had lawyers.
Ana had no way of affording upcoming rent here with 4 young children at home. Her children are all citizens, so we got them passports, sold their car to pay for plane tickes and she returned to El Salvador although she had no family there. She wrote and called the consular in Peru daily and finally they ordered her husband's release from El Paso. He was weak and thin but otherwise healthy, thank God.
After that, Ana packed up and move her and the children to Peru, to live with her husband and his family. She had to pay for transportation to Peru, dual citizenship for her children and enrolling her children in school in Peru. Also the temperature in the mountains is colder and they did not have appropriate clothing. It is a 9-hour bus ride through the mountains to visit the consular for paperwork.
Please help support this beautiful Christian family as they begin a new life together in new country. This has been a tumultuous start to her baby's first 6 months of life and this family deserves some peace and stability. The money will help with their expenses, education, food, and other necessities. They live a very humble life and after this we are hoping they will be settled.
