Community Visions of Burien has always envisioned to support communities from marginalized backgrounds who are usually left out of community development. This summer, CV Burien launched a community effort to tutor children who are bilingual. It is not easy for students who have lingual barriers to fully understand and benefit from remote teaching. Community Visions took the initiative to bring bilingual youth to tutor and mentor bilingual students. Our focus was through an equitable lense, to support students who are bilingual in subjects like Mathematics. The online experience and remote teaching is not always the same for bilingual students. The program has been going extremely well and students have benefited from the support.
