Help Us Support Shelby & Kie Through This Difficult Journey š
Our family is coming together to ask for a little extra help and support for Shelby and her girlfriend, Kie, as they navigate an incredibly difficult season of life.
If you know Shelby, you know she has already been through more with her health than anyone should have to endureāespecially at such a young age. She is a cancer survivor, and now, just days away from her 30th birthday, she is facing another major battle with her health.
Shelby recently underwent a major hip surgery called a PAO. The surgery required her pelvis to be broken and realigned so that her hip could be properly positioned, with screws placed to hold everything in place. It is an extremely painful and extensive surgery, followed by months of limited mobility, physical therapy, and a long recovery. She is also facing another hip surgery in the future.
What was already expected to be a difficult recovery quickly became even more complicated. Shelby experienced significant pain, swelling, difficulty with mobility, and episodes of her blood pressure dropping when she tried to sit or stand. She worked incredibly hard with physical and occupational therapy and made some amazing progress, eventually being able to walk with assistance and navigate stairs so she could return home.
Unfortunately, her challenges didnāt end when she left the hospital.
Since coming home, Shelby has experienced frightening seizure-like episodes that have resulted in multiple emergency room visits and ambulance rides. During some of these episodes, she has become unresponsive, been unable to speak, struggled to breathe normally, and experienced nausea and vomiting afterward. She has undergone testing, including scans and bloodwork, but there are still many unanswered questions. She has been referred to a neurologist for further evaluation and hopefully an EEG to determine what is causing these episodes.
Through all of this, Kie has been by her side, doing everything she can to care for Shelby while also trying to keep life going. She has been juggling work, their home, meals, and everything else while Shelby focuses on healing. It has been an overwhelming amount for both of them.
Shelby has always been the kind of person who fights through whatever life puts in front of her. She is strong, loving, and incredibly deserving of a chance to simply heal without having to worry about everything else around her.
We know that times are difficult for so many people, and we donāt expect anyone to give what they canāt. But if you are able to donate, share this fundraiser, send a prayer, or simply check in on them, every single bit of support means more than you could ever know.
We want to help take some of the financial pressure off Shelby and Kie while they focus on what matters most right now: getting Shelby healthy and on her feet again.
She should be celebrating her 30th birthday. Instead, sheās fighting another battle for her health.
Letās surround Shelby and Kie with the same love, strength, and support they have given so many others. š
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading their story, sharing it, donating if you can, and keeping them in your thoughts and prayers. Every act of kindness makes a difference.
