Our dear friend is struggling...
We all know Nick Baines - known to most of us as Silky - to be a fun loving, kind and caring individual, whose quick wit and sense of humor have brought countless smiles to all of us over the years. Unfortunately, those smiles are now fewer and farther between, as a series of medical problems have impacted nearly every aspect of his daily life.
Silky is currently undergoing testing at Houston's MD Anderson Cancer Center to determine the severity and treatment options for multiple myeloma: an incurable cancer of the plasma cells in his bone marrow. This disease - in addition to lupus, which he was diagnosed with late last year - has led to constant pain in his bones, severe fatigue, nausea, and kidney damage, among other issues. Combined, these complications have made it nearly impossible for him to function at work; I work with him and watch him struggle daily just to make it through an entire workday.
Needless to say, his inability to work coupled with the significant costs of doctor's visits, testing, and medications, has placed a heavy financial burden on him and his family. If you are able, please consider pitching in to help Silky navigate the tough road ahead. He would never ask, so I've done so on his behalf. In the meantime, please join me in sending prayers and best wishes to our beloved brother.
