Our mission is to teach, develop, organize and offer youth players the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball. All while instilling life-lessons and values such as character, teamwork, discipline, respect and sportsmanship.
With an increasing number of kids needing outside activities our goal is to provide a place for children to interact with other kids in a positive and safe environment.
Violence in New York is currently on the rise and an increasingly large number of youth spending their time unproductively, whether its playing video games or social media we want to redirect the youth’s energy into something productive while taking their attention away from negative distractions. By benefiting the youth we are benefiting our community as a whole.
SHOOT HOOPS NOT GUNS
Children and youth who participate in physical activity and engage in sports develop a fuller sense of self and increased self confidence. Basketball gives children and youth the opportunity to challenge themselves in a contained environment
Our purpose is to use drills that keep everyone involved and excited about basketball. We will teach skills that the kids can do at home to improve their game while having fun. Basketball is a great sport to incorporate character development and discipline.
who we are
Bryant crowder
As a native New Yorker I have been playing basketball since I was ten years old. Before I played professionally overseas I played for Rice High School, Hofstra and Texas A&M. I was a top basketball/NBA prospect but I lacked the proper guidance and
mentors in my life to further my career. That prevalent problem was the inspiration for Little Ballers Basketball Camp. Seeing kids in the city not having enough activities with positive direction, epically at young ages. My goal is to provide basketball guidance as well as guidance children can use throughout life.
Basketball is a universal sport that brought me many lifelong friends, like Coach Puppa. Coach Puppa is a person who I have known most of my life and still mentors me. To this day I continue to play in his basketball tournament Les skills and drills.
Andy Fontanz aka Coach Puppa
Born and raised in the Lower East Side, Coach Puppa played basketball, Football and Baseball and saw a real need for New York City youth to have proper instruction in basketball fundamentals and positive guidance. He created Lower East Side skills and drills which is entering its eleventh year of helping the youth. He still lives in the LES with his beautiful wife and six sons. His annual shoot hoops not guns basketball tournament is held in the same park as the camp will be.
.
With the funds provided supplies for the camp will be brought.
