This is Afton, my daughter’s best friend and roommate. She is a union makeup artist and has been out of work since May of this year due to the Writer’s and SAG strikes. Unemployment in California is very low and doesn’t help the outrageous cost of living. Recently, CA Governor, Gavin Newsom, denied a bill to help increase unemployment wages during this strike.
