I am a holistic esthetician and makeup artist running my own small clean beauty services business; Bombshell Botanica Holistic Skin & Beauty. I am currently renting a room at My Day Beauty Studio Salon in Sherman Oaks. I offer 90 minute Custom Holistic Facials, Makeup Application and Lessons, Brow Lamination, Lash Lifts, Brow and Lash Tinting, and Brow and Facial Waxing. I love what I do and am truly passionate about helping clients feel confident and beautiful and cultivate a lifestyle of self-care.
I have spent most of my adult life working in retail beauty and corporate spas and it was soul sucking to the point of causing anxiety attacks. I was always rushed, micromanaged, bullied, and unable to provide the length and quality of service that my clients truly needed. I am neurodivergent and have an anxiety condition and working in this manner was no longer feasible for me. I began to become very excited to open my own business which would allow me to bring my full self to my work with all of the knowledge, skills, and care I truly wanted to provide.
After leaving my 3 year job as a facialist at a corporate spa in Santa Monica, I foolishly believed that my (well intentioned) clients would follow me when I opened my own business at a spa in Woodland Hills. Unfortunately, this did not prove to be the case and, along with other challenges due to being new to owning my own business and poor luck, I quickly went through all my savings with very little to show for it. Just as I found a salon which allowed me to work on commission and began building some clientele, Covid hit and wiped me out.
As some of you may know, starting your own business is very difficult and requires a lot of investment of time and money. I am gladly devoting time and effort but unfortunately, the money is just not there. My husband lost most of his work in the music industry to covid and has since been completing his masters degree and able to bring in very little income in the meantime. We are doing everything we can to cut down on living expenses, find side jobs, and move to a cheaper apartment etc. It is somewhat dire but I am not asking for help with my living expenses- just help to keep my business alive and growing so that it can become a sustainable career for me and I can continue doing what I love!
I will use this money mostly to pay my salon rent, pay for supplies and products necessary for my services, and also invest in a training program to add high demand holistic services such as Gua Sha, Cupping, and Buccal/Intraoral massage and skin nutrition to my menu. I also would like to invest in marketing services as I am really struggling with this aspect.
