Senior Services Solutions Plus is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Canon City, Colorado. They provide Fremont County adults with transportation to non-emergency medical, dental and optical appointments including cancer and dialysis treatments in Fremont County as well as Pueblo and Colorado Springs. Drivers are all volunteers who use their own vehicles and are paid a stipend per trip.
The closing of the Canon City Fresenius Dialysis Clinic has created a hardship for local residents who now must travel to Pueblo for treatments. What had been a $10 or $15 ride will now cost $30 and since dialysis treatments are three times a week, this would end up costing the patient $90 per week just to continue these life-saving treatments.
