Hello to all; I'm Sean Armand, a professional basketball player who played and lived in Turkey for 5 years. In my time, I lived in Gaziantep, Istanbul, and Izmir. All these spots are remarkable in their own ways. I always speak about embracing the culture, and it's no better time than now.
On Monday, February 6th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake was felt in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Israel. Gaziantep was the epicenter of the quake, and many cities around the region were struck with tragedy. This devastating incident has left many homeless, some without electricity, and most importantly, without their loved ones.
I ask my peers to join me and support a country in need. We all grew as people and players in our time in Turkey, and there are many ways we can each help. We can do this by reposting, volunteering at local aid sites, or generously donating.
We, as athletes, can come together and put a great effort forward to help those in need. I'm in contact with management at the Gaziantep basketball team. With the financial donations we raise, I'm confident that we will significantly impact the road to recovery for the cities and people affected. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
