11/27/2024 Update:
My name is Kay-Lynn and my mother, Lorri and I are independent fosters/rescuers. This is our first medical foster and could really use some help getting this guy healthy and on his paws to get him to a good home.
I first saw Toby off Bundy Canyon (dangerous road) on Sunday night just sitting in the bushes and weeds along the road beside himself. It broke my heart. I was unable to catch him but myself and another driver who stopped were able to get him away from the road. He was terrified.
The next day we saw a post that he was in someone’s yard.
Tuesday morning, we saw three posts in our neighborhood Facebook groups of him wandering around. That morning through the help of neighbors we tracked him down and gave him breakfast. He was skittish and ran away. So we decided to come at lunch.
My mother went at lunch time and found him and was able to start gaining his trust. I joined her and after an hour, we were able to get him in our car and off the streets.
We immediately noticed that he was limping on his back right leg and his ears were bleeding. That same day we took him to the vet and X-rays are required to determine what is wrong with his leg. The vet suspects it may be an old break that has healed but needs X-rays to confirm. His ears also look to have intentional trauma - both have the exact same injury in the exact same spot on each ears; more than likely it was done by a human as it’s too precise to be from another animal or some type of accident.
In his few days with us he has really become comfortable and is such a sweet and happy boy. We don’t know what happened to him but he is dog friendly and all he wants to do is please. As we are learning more about Toby and what he needs to go to a good home, we want to ensure he gets the care he needs too and ensure his health and happiness.
Costs:
X-rays: $550-$725
Vaccines: $50
Neuter: $155
We thank our community for always helping and supporting our work to help local animals. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
