Help My Mom & Dad Keep Their Home After Years of Medical Battles ❤️
Our Goal: $50,000
I'm asking for help for my mom and dad because they've spent years fighting through serious health problems and financial hardship, and they've reached a point where they simply cannot do it alone anymore.
My dad is 70 years old. He has suffered four strokes and has been unable to work since 2000. He cant drive or work and has been recieving disability and receives only about $1,200 a month.
My mom is 68 years old and a cancer survivor who battled non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the thyroid. Unfortunately, her health struggles continued even after beating cancer. She now has multiple serious medical conditions, including non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, and her liver is functioning at only about 10%.
Recently, things became even more frightening.
Because of her severely underfunctioning liver, my mom suffered ammonia poisoning and required hospitalization. That hospital stay left our family with approximately $25,000 in medical bills.
And while our family was already struggling with her health, another problem hit.
A storm caused significant damage to their roof. They desperately needed a new roof, but the resulting financial situation has left a $15,000 lien against their home from the contractor because insurance would not cover the costs.
So now, on top of my mom's serious health problems and my dad's disability, they're facing the possibility of losing the home they've fought so hard to keep.
Why we're asking for $50,000
We're hoping to raise $50,000 to help my parents get out from underneath this overwhelming financial burden.
Some of the most immediate needs include:
- $25,000 — hospital and medical bills from my mom's recent hospitalization
- $15,000 — lien against their home related to the storm-damaged roof
- Remaining funds — back property taxes, additional medical expenses, household bills, housing costs, and essential living expenses while they try to regain financial stability
My dad has only his limited disability income and severe nerve and muscle damage caused by his strokes, and my mom, despite everything her body has been through, cancer, chemo, and crazy expensive medications, has been forced to work part-time because they simply cannot afford not to.
She's 68 years old, dealing with extremely serious liver disease, and still trying to work so they don't lose their home.
As her family, it's incredibly difficult to watch.
My mom has already fought cancer. My dad has survived four strokes. They've spent years dealing with medical problems that most people could never imagine, and now they're facing financial problems that have become just as overwhelming and extremly stressful.
I'm asking for help because I want my parents to be able to focus on staying healthy and taking care of each other, rather than waking up every day terrified about the next medical bill or whether they'll be able to keep their home. I just want to see my mother smile again and just be able to breath.
