Living in remote no where Alaska is hard enough- but living there with a newborn is even harder. The isolation is crushing. Enter, the most caring, open hearted, outgoing, full of life -Jennifer Wright. She became our Bonus grandmother. Never afraid to tell us how it is and complete dote and love on a child not even hers by blood. Not just a Bonus Grandma, but an Adoptive one, considering none of his biological grandparents have been to visit him in Alaska. That bleak time on a tiny cold rock raising my baby was made so much easier with Jennifer being there.
Now, she is faced with battling Myelodysplastic syndromes, a type of bone marrow cancer. The kicker? Jennifer has spent YEARS as a hospital nurse, and now she practically lives in and out of the hospital looking for an effective treatment. This is getting costly.
In a healthy person, bone marrow makes new, immature blood cells that mature over time. Myelodysplastic syndromes occur when something disrupts this process so that the blood cells don't mature. Instead of developing normally, the blood cells die in the bone marrow or just after entering the bloodstream. Over time, there are more immature, defective cells than healthy ones.
Please help me and my son support our Bonus Grandma!
