There are some people we call angels who are sent to earth to help heal the brokenness of the planet. My friend Monica is one of those people. I met Monica on a trip to Iquitos Peru one year ago. For those who have never been to Iquitos, it is a very very impoverished city near the Amazon. If you travel the streets you will find homeless and discarded animals everywhere. Monica has opened her home and heart to helping these abandoned animals and it’s truly beautiful to see what she does for them. She has the very sick animals housed with her and uses her own money to pay for veterinary care to help save their lives (which she has saved numerous times) and also makes 2 trips a day around the city to feed animals in various locations that have no home or care. It’s very costly for Monica to help all these animals and she doesn’t hesitate to help or even second guess on trying to save. After visiting her last month and going around the city with her to feed these animals, I felt an overwhelming urge to try to help her more and ask my animal lover friends to spare anything they could for her to continue helping them. Our US dollars go a long way in Iquitos and anything would be greatly appreciated. She’s never asked for help until now and I want to help her as much as we possibly can because she deserves so much for what she does out of the kindness of her angel heart.
