Hi, my name is Liliana, and this fall I’ll be starting my journey as a Mechanical Engineering major at Texas State University, while also performing in the Texas State Marching Band and Wind Symphony. My dream is to become a mechanical engineer who works on aircraft and spacecraft, the machines that push human possibility’s forward. I’ve always been fascinated by the tiny details, the hidden systems, and the precision that makes something as massive as a plane or spacecraft lift into the sky. Engineering is where my curiosity finally feels like it belongs and imbedded.
Music has shaped me just as much as engineering. Marching band taught me discipline, endurance, and how to work as part of something bigger than myself. Wind symphony taught me how to lead, how to listen, and how to bring intention into everything I do. Balancing both engineering and music is challenging, but it’s who I am and it’s what keeps me grounded and motivated. Thus hindering me from not giving up even when times are tough.
As excited as I am for this next chapter, the financial side of college is overwhelming. Engineering comes with extra costs like lab fees, materials, and equipment. Being in marching band and wind symphony adds expenses for travel, uniforms, and time commitments that limit how much I can work during the school year. I’m doing everything I can applying for scholarships, budgeting carefully, and planning ahead , while still saving money for DCI (Professional marching band) but I still need help to make this dream possible.
Your support would mean the world to me. Every donation helps me cover tuition, housing, books, and the costs that come with being part of two demanding music programs while pursuing a rigorous engineering degree. More than anything, your support tells me that you believe in my future in the engineer.
If you choose to donate, you’re helping me take the next step toward designing the aircraft or spacecraft that will shape the future of travel and exploration. You’re also helping me stay involved in the music communities that have shaped my discipline, identity, and confidence. You’re investing in someone who is determined, passionate, and ready to work for every opportunity.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and believing in my journey.
