Hello friends, family and random strangers online 👋
So before I start I have to say I absolutely hate to ask for help, especially when it comes to asking complete strangers. Putting my pride aside I will ask for help when it comes to any animal in need. We are in a rough spot with this kitten we knew nothing about and yet brought him home to give him a better life. And he deserves the best chance at life after the hell he has endured so far.
He was found at a UPS location alone and scared. Hence his name being Uppsy😜
He is about 5-7wks old from what we can determine. Essentially should still be with his momma.
Poor little thing needs a lot of TLC and medical help. But it's hard especially with saving for another major surgery coming up for our American Bulldog who needs a double CcL repair which will cost over $2000! We will do anything we can to save our animals and make their lives better but veterinary care isn't cheap.
So back to Uppsy my husband brings him home. I start checking this frail little black kitten out and I noticed he was skin and bones, lethargic, had white gums, dehydrated, bloody diarrhea and can't meow very loud. Also has small healed lacerations all over his body. His skin and fur around his legs and belly is all rashy looking.
So here we are finding what is majorly wrong with him. His right rear foot and leg is the biggest problem. I at first thought he had a laceration between his toes and it'd be an easy fix with having a slight infection that'd clear up with ammoxicillin. Then the hole in his leg he has is almost straight through and honestly looks like someone shot him for fun.
BUT once the wounds were clean and tended to. I noticed his toe was almost sliced right off! His poor little toe is hanging on by a thread and by a thread I mean a tendon! He actually can still feel in that toe and cries out in pain but he can't make much sound because when his cry comes out it's scratchy and quiet. Only way to tell if he is hurting is if he is shivering uncontrollably which is heartbreaking to watch.
So we took him to the vet to be checked out and we found the toe is fractured and healing is a 50/50 shot or amputation of that digit or whole leg will be needed at one point if it doesn't heal properly and infection spreads and goes gangrene.
The vet believes he fell from a moving vehicle to cause the injuries or he was thrown from a moving vehicle on purpose which is absolutely disgusting that some low life person would do this to a kitten let alone any animal.
So $90 later we have a two week supply of liquid ammoxicillin and his leg wrapped up and go back for weekly follow up visits for wound care which will cost anywhere from $15-50 each visit depending upon the need for more medications.
Unfortunately the costs of his care is the only thing that worries me because it may be cheaper to put him down and I honestly don't want to do that. He is such a tough little kitten and yet loving even when he is in pain. He just wants loved and given a chance and honestly I don't believe he has ever had any of that since he was born.
So if you can donate even a few dollars to his vet care needs to help lessen the costs we were not expecting to have and set him up for a better life I know we would all appreciate it. Just giving this little guy a better chance at life like he deserves is all I can hope for.
Thank you
