Doyle’s triple transplant surgery

Doyle Dwayne Duke grew up in Byers Oklahoma.
At the age of 15, Doyle went in to get a physical to play baseball. A doctor in Stratford Oklahoma had heard a heart murmur and sent him to OU Medical Center. Doyle had many tests done which lead doctors to discover that he had idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). In 1996, Doyle had open heart surgery. The surgeon trimmed his heart muscle and cut into his AV node which lead to Doyle needing a pacemaker. In 2010 he had to have a defibrillator put in. In 2012 he started having afib symptoms. To treat these symptoms Doyle went through five ablation surgeries. One of the ablation surgeries took place in Pennsylvania where they had to perform the ablation on the bottom side of his heart. In March 2022, Doyle started having difficulties with swelling and shortness of breath. After multiple stays in the hospital they found his heart had caused cirrhosis of the liver. Doyle had to take several medications for his heart and liver which caused damage to his kidneys. He was hospitalized on Oct. 18th at OU Medical Center. Doyle went through testing for a heart, liver, and kidney transplant. he was not able to come home due to testing and his health. After a few long months OU Medical Center had transferred him to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Doyle made it to Arizona on November 11th and went into surgery for his organs on December 7th. Doyle’s wife Billie Duke flew out with him and will stay as his care giver. They are both unable to work and Doyle's job let him go in November. Doyle and Billie will both have to stay in Arizona for at least 6 months for doctors visits 3 to 5 times a week. It will be a long road to recovery but with the love and support of family and friends Doyle will make a full recovery! we have a Facebook page called Doyle's heart that has videos and updates of his time at the mayo clinic in phoenix everyone is welcome to join the group!
