A teacher from a small, underserved school recently reached out to me about nearly 50 children whose families are struggling to afford the basic necessities they need to attend school.
Many of these children come from families facing serious financial hardship. Some are attending school in worn-out shoes and clothing, while their families are also struggling to cover the costs of transportation, meals, books, school supplies, and other educational expenses.
Seeing their circumstances and hearing about what these children need moved me to try to help.
I am hoping to raise $10,000 to help provide support for nearly 50 students, including:
Shoes and clothing
Books and school supplies
Meals and nutritional support
Transportation to and from school
Essential educational expenses
Why aren't the children or school identified?
For privacy and safety reasons, I will not be sharing the school's name, its exact location, the teacher's identity, or identifiable photographs of the children.
There are circumstances that could create serious problems for the people involved if their identities or location were made public. Protecting the children and those caring for them is more important than exposing their identities for the sake of this fundraiser.
For that reason, faces will be hidden in any photographs where a child could otherwise be identified.
I understand that contributing to a fundraiser like this requires trust. I will do my best to provide updates showing the assistance being provided while continuing to protect everyone's privacy.
The goal is simple: to help these children have the basic things they need to get to school, eat, have proper shoes and clothing, and continue their education.
A contribution doesn't have to be large to matter. $10 can help with school supplies. $20 or $30 can contribute toward clothing, meals, or transportation. When many people give a little, it can become something life-changing for these children.
