An Update On Aaron's Fight.

JOHNSTON, AARON CHRISTOPHER, age 39, of Mt. Pleasant, lost his hard fought battle to cancer on January 4, 2025.

A Memorial Service for Aaron will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel Monday, January 20, 2025, at 12 p.m. with Pastor Ried Martin officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Aaron was born July 16, 1985, in Alma, Michigan, the son of Chris and Patti (Shillinger) Johnston. On May 20, 2006, he married the love of his life, Jennifer Van Dyke, in Carson City. Together they had three amazing boys, Brady, Ethan, and Tyler. Aaron served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in the Saginaw Reserve Unit. He deployed to Iraq to fight for his country from the fall of 2006 until spring of 2007. Aaron performed many different jobs throughout his lifetime. He was a very skilled wood worker, creating many creative and unique pieces; he was proud to present personalized wood flags to the local fire and police departments. The most memorable of these was presented to his father upon his retirement from the Crystal Fire Department.

Aaron’s favorite place was at any of his son’s sporting events, especially wrestling matches. Whether it be football, baseball, or wrestling, Aaron spent countless hours volunteering to coach their teams and was always their biggest supporter. He also enjoyed fishing, dirt racing, bonfires, and growing his small animal farm.

Aaron is survived by his wife Jennifer; their three boys, Brady, Ethan, and Tyler; his parents,

Chris and Patti Johnston; sister Jessica Johnston; nephew Matthew (Nevaeh) Hill and niece Madison Hill, both of whom he had a very special relationship with; sister-in-law Vanessa (Jon) Gruenke; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by very close friends who became family, Jesse and Heather Wezensky; and their children, Emilee and Grant.

Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Basil and Marietta Johnston; maternal grandparents Ted and Phyllis Shillinger; cousin Jenna Evans; and step-grandpa Curt Woodring.

Please Continue your Support to his Family during these hard times.
