Hello, I'm Brittany Costello, honored to be representing as Miss Pearl City 2024 this year at the upcoming Miss Iowa 2024 scholarship competition in Davenport, from June 12th to 15th! I can hardly contain my excitement to share my passions and dedication with both the judges and audience, aiming to inspire positive change.
This year marks my 14th year of involvement in the Miss America Opportunity! It all began when I was just 8 years old, intrigued by a newspaper article about a local competition seeking contestants. Despite being a self-professed tomboy and battling shyness that once made it difficult for me to ask my own grandparents to sleepover, I jumped right into my first competition. From that initial experience, I was captivated by the organization—its sisterhood, the thrill of performance, and the call to service.
Over the years, I've amassed invaluable skills, cherished memories, and numerous awards. Beyond academic scholarships, I've honed interview and public speaking skills, nurtured confidence, and discovered a deep-seated passion for service (clocking close to 4,000 service hours since 2021 alone! That's an average of over 1,000 hours per year for the past 3 years.)
In gratitude, I'm privileged to serve as a spokesperson and brand ambassador, not only for Miss America (and Miss Iowa), but also for Watersheds: Think Global, Act Local, and the American Heart Association. If you'd like to bolster my journey as a titleholder and aid in securing additional scholarship funds, I humbly ask for your vote for People's Choice. It would be the ultimate honor, given that every ounce of my efforts is dedicated to bettering my community, my state, and my nation.
