Please donate today to save these animals. Every moment counts. Your support can make the difference between life and death for these deserving animals.
Road to Home, a foster-based rescue, opened its doors in 2013, founded by Elyse Giurco on Long Island, NY. Her passion and compassion for animals were the driving force behind the organization. Elyse envisioned not just another rescue, but one that supports the community and other rescues and shelters. She aimed to fight for the underdogs, seniors, medical cases that no one else would touch, and behavioral dogs that might otherwise be euthanized.
For the past 11 years, Road to Home Rescue Support has been a beacon of hope for over 1,400 dogs and cats, providing them with love, care, and a second chance at life. However, today we face a heartbreaking reality: we were forced to close our intake, turning away animals in desperate need of medical attention, and now we might need to permanently shut down our doors.
This vision also led to the creation of our Forever Foster Program, which has provided many seniors and hospice dogs with loving families. Our Forever Foster Program offers a beacon of hope for senior dogs and cats, but it comes with significant costs. Medical bills for surgeries, chemotherapy, extensive tests, acupuncture, and medications are substantial. Some incredible seniors are undergoing treatment for lymphoma, mast cell tumors, IBD, and osteoarthritis. Your donation can make a profound difference in the lives of these special seniors. This program has placed 25 dogs and cats into amazing homes, but it is very costly. Currently, we have six animals in the program, some with very extensive medical bills.
However, things changed with COVID-19, inflation, and a decrease in regular donations. Shelters and rescues have been overwhelmed, reaching out day and night for help, while medical expenses continue to grow. Road to Home was forced to close its intake for medical cases a few months ago, a disheartening decision. Despite this, the medical cases we are responsible for have caused our expenses to climb even further. We couldn't turn our backs on those in our care and have managed so far, but the future of the rescue is in jeopardy if we cannot reduce these expenses.
Supported by a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers, we have conducted raffles, auctions, asked for medical donations, and organized events, but it hasn't been enough. The last thing we want is to close our rescue doors forever. Road to Home has come too far and saved too many, and there are still many more needing to be saved. We don't want to turn our backs on these animals.
As a result, we are appealing to the public for help to overcome this hurdle so we can continue Elyse's and Road to Home's mission. We have set a goal to raise $20,000 to cover the medical expenses for our current medical cases. We know times are tough for everyone, but every dollar raised brings us one step closer to reopening and continuing this life-saving journey. We can't do it without you and pray that you find it in your hearts to help us get through this so we can get back out there where we belong. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Thank you for your support.

Eternally grateful,
Road to Home Rescue Support
