Nagaland is a State in the far northeastern part of India. There are few educational opportunities in Nagaland, especially for girls and young women. Traditionally, girls stay at home until they are married, but today many young women have had to leave home because their families are unable to support them and they lack the skills and education they need to support themselves. Many are left with no option but to work in sweatshops under extremely harsh conditions or to beg on the streets. Many young women may even becomes victims of human trafficking rings.
Please help us to begin helping these women make a better life for themselves and provide a safe place where they can live and an opportunity to gain the skills they need to make a better life for themselves and their families.
Our vision is to build a home for from 45 to 50 young women from Nagaland, including bedrooms, social and work spaces, a kitchen, administrative offices, classrooms, and a library. To start the work we need funds for planning and architectural design, building materials, furniture and equipment, and construction.
Our initial goal is to raise $20,000 for architectural planning and design work. Then, we will need funds for construction and materials, and furniture and equipment.
Please help us to help rescue these vulnerable young women and girls from a lifetime of poverty and suffering.
Thank you.
