Gretta is our beloved dog of 13 years, she came all the way from Peru 9 years ago along with her little human , gretta has always been loving and protective with my girls . 
A week ago she ate a bone and caused perforation in her intestines which came along with a big infection almost taken her life if we didn’t decide to do the surgery. 
We were thinking about it for a whole day between putting her down or to go ahead with the surgery . As we all know surgery and hospitalization for a pet is extremely expensive, we had the option to put her to sleep or to continue with the surgery. We have 2 children who were devastated with the news and begged us to do everything in our power but to not put her to sleep . 
Even though surgery was extremely expensive and difficult as of right now , we decided to go ahead and do it . We emptied our emergency saving but still need some help to finish paying her care at the vet . 
Gretta got a second chance to stay with us , finally eating and not in pain anymore .
