A Little About Me & Why I’m Asking for Help 💛
Hi, my name is Gisette. I’m a disabled U.S. Navy veteran, military spouse, and stay-at-home mom raising four children.
Becoming a stay-at-home mom wasn’t something I originally planned financially. I had a career and was working full-time, but our family circumstances changed. I care for my nephew, who has special needs and significant behavioral challenges.
Unfortunately, he has been removed from every after-school program available to us in our area. Because of that, I have to be home and available when he gets off the school bus each day, which made a traditional job with hours until 5:00 p.m. or later no longer realistic for our family.
Leaving my job was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make because it has put a tremendous amount of financial pressure on our household.
My husband is currently active-duty Navy and works hard to provide for our family, and I receive VA disability compensation from my own military service. However, in today’s economy, his income and my VA disability simply aren’t enough to keep up with the expenses of raising four children, maintaining our household, paying our bills, and tackling the debt we accumulated while trying to keep everything afloat.
I’m actively trying to get our finances to a place where we can comfortably survive on my husband’s income and my VA disability without constantly worrying about falling behind. Right now, that means slowly chipping away at our debt and doing everything possible to keep our bills current.
That’s why I created this Spotfund.
I know everyone has their own responsibilities and struggles, so I don’t take anyone’s generosity for granted. Even $1 helps. Every contribution allows us to put a little more toward our bills and debt and gets our family one step closer to financial stability.
My goal isn’t to live beyond our means—it’s to adjust to our new reality, get out from underneath our debt, and create a sustainable life where I can continue being there for a child who needs me without our family falling behind financially.
