Scholarship Overview
The Rich Flaherty Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the life and legacy of Rich Flaherty, a loving and devoted family man and a passionate lifelong supporter of the sport of wrestling.
Rich was an Ashland High School wrestler who remained deeply connected to the sport throughout his life. He was most proud cheering on his own son from the stands and was known throughout the wrestling community for his unmistakable voice at matches. Rich’s enthusiasm and deep respect for wrestling left a lasting impression on athletes, families, and coaches.
He firmly believed in the powerful lessons wrestling teaches — discipline, perseverance, resilience, accountability, and respect— both on and off the mat. This scholarship was created to carry those values forward and recognize them in the latest generations of student athletes.
The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior wrestler who plans to continue their education at the college level and demonstrates strong character and dedication in sports and academics.
