On March 23 Jett Dunn, a Greenwood Middle School student was in a UTV accident and unfortunately has some severe injuries that will require multiple surgeries to fix. He’ll be in the hospital in the Lubbock area for awhile as the doctors are coming up with a treatment plan to help save his arm.  He’s an active kiddo who’s loves dirt bike racing. So this kind of injury is extremely tragic but more so to a kid who loves to ride. His family have taken off of work and with travel expenses we’d like to ask for any help you feel you can provide. In the meantime, prayers are always welcome!

Jett had another surgery today to fix his face and ear suture which had some debris still in there. Looks like part of the graft on his arm doesn’t seem to be taking. They’ll look at it again on Friday. Could mean another surgery.  He may need another graft. Won’t be going home this week, possibly end of next week. Keep praying for them.

4/2 Update on our Buddy Jett! So sorry I got behind on our friend and his family and they’re has been a lot.

He had another cleaning surgery while in Lubbock and they were happy with how clean they have finally gotten his arm. He’s had some visitors and it even perked him up some and they cut up and laughed some.

On Monday, March 31st, he was transported via ambulance to Scottish Rites, in Dallas and settled in for the day and the next chapter of his treatment.

4/1: I know Aprils Fools but there was no joking for Jett. They came and got him at 6am for his BIG surgery. They started with a PICC line, bone repair, muscle transplant and some skin grafts. He didn’t get out of surgery until 7:30pm. Talk about a long day. His parents had a hard time just sitting there all day waiting to hear news, I couldn’t imagine how that had to feel. I was at home anxious and I’m not the mom. The first doctor came out and said he was done with the bone repair and they were going forward with the rest. They also ended up putting in a pain ball to help with blocking the pain in his arm. They told mom and dad that the surgery went well. When he finally got back to the room he was super thirsty but tired. They have been checking his arm every hour on the hour to make sure there’s no clots and he’s not rejecting the flap.

Monday the 7th, they plan on going in again and doing a graft on his upper arm wound and fixing his face/ear since it’s coming open plus they found that there’s still a rock in there. At least he’ll get some rest time, besides the hourly check-ups, before the next surgery.

Please join the community on Saturday for the car wash fundraiser at the Brigade Fitness in Greenwood off of FM 307. See the attached flyer for more info.

Friends visiting and joking and perking Jett up with some laughter!

Thank you all for the prayers and please keep them coming, it’s sure helping this family out.

Update for our buddy Jett. Yesterday he got to go outside and enjoy some sun and he loved it. Being cooped up inside is not his thing, he’s an outdoor boy and really needed that break. Today he went for another cleaning early and the doctors seem to be very pleased with the results. He gets another day of rest tomorrow and then early Monday morning he’s being transported to Scottish Rites in Dallas for further cleaning and repairs. Tuesday will be his next surgery with an arm specialist who is one of the best. Keep praying for the family.

3/27 Today Jett was supposed to be headed to Dallas for further extensive care but were told later that they were going to stay in Lubbock until Monday and then head to Dallas. For now his care is scheduled for another cleaning surgery on Saturday and then once in Dallas they’ll do another cleaning surgery on Tuesday. These cleanings are done under anesthesia. Then their specialist will take over care up there. This will give Jett some rest time before another surgery and cleaning and then transporting. Keep the prayers coming as Jett and his family continue to face many more surgeries and challenges during this time.

GOOD NEWS!!! Jett’s arm is salvageable, going to Scottish in Dallas, not sure when but probably by the weekend. Will require many surgeries to fix him. Some can be done in Lubbock and some in Dallas. Average stay in hospital will be 3-6 weeks but could be longer depending on complications. After that the surgeries will be farther apart but the doctor said we are looking at a total of probably 18-24 months for completion and Jett to be his new “normal” as he probably won’t be 100%

I increased the amount for donation due to the news today!
