Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out with a humble request for assistance, something I don't usually do. As a peer recovery specialist working in Baltimore City, my job takes me to the heart of the community where I encounter individuals in need—whether they're living in tents, standing on street corners, or elsewhere. I'm there to listen and offer support whenever possible.
Two weeks ago, while responding to an emergency that required me to administer Narcan to someone overdosing, I misplaced my glasses. In the heat of the moment, I took them off to prepare for CPR and, after the crisis was averted, they were nowhere to be found. Despite retracing my steps and inquiring with locals, my glasses have vanished. In a bustling city like Baltimore, lost items rarely resurface.
Financially, I'm not in a position to replace my glasses. My insurance policy allows for new glasses only once every two years, and I'm currently using a three-year-old pair that barely suffices. Driving is out of the question with my current vision, which is a blessing in disguise to avoid potential accidents.
I'm in need of a new pair of glasses, which cost around $250 on average. My prescription is particularly costly due to its strength, but I can reuse my existing frames. I'm seeking a modest pair that fits well, won't slip off, and includes bifocals—yes, age is catching up with me.
Any donation, no matter the size, would be deeply appreciated. I promise to keep you updated on my progress and, once I've secured a new pair of glasses, I'll share my gratitude with a heartfelt smile and a personal thank you to each contributor. Vision is not just vital for my work; it's essential for life itself.
Thank you for considering my request.
