This Saturday, your Sam Houston State Bearkats take on #1 ranked Tennessee in the NCR Quarterfinals in Atlanta, GA., with the winner heading to Atlanta, GA for the National Quarterfinals — the second stop on a postseason path that could take us all the way to the National Championship at Aveva (SaberCats) Stadium in Houston.
The stakes — and the costs — have never been higher. From Atlanta, the Final Four will move on to Knoxville, TN, and eventually the National Championship will be decided right here in Houston. As you can tell, the road ahead could involve several major trips — and that comes with significant expenses.
That’s where your support means everything.
As a club sport, our players cover most of their own costs. But with flights, hotels, transportation, and meals across multiple cities, we’re facing one of the most expensive stretches in program history. Every dollar raised helps ensure our student-athletes can focus on competing, not how they’ll afford to get there.

- Travel Costs Are Rising: Multiple potential trips (potentially Denver, Atlanta, Knoxville, and Houston) mean mounting transportation and lodging expenses.
- Every Donation Helps: Contributions go directly to the Bearkat Rugby Alumni Association (BRAA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and are fully tax-deductible.
- Alumni Perks: Alumni who donate $150 or more will have their annual dues covered — a small thank-you for helping keep the program strong.
