Hi everyone,
All we need is $5k to get us back on our feet.
It all began when my husband and I got married with about $16k in our bank account back in 2020. Due to covid, and only one of us working an essential job, our money was quickly depleting. Then inflation rose and we couldn't afford to buy a home- so we were stuck renting high priced apartments. Although we were able to pay bills, we weren't able to save no more than $100/month.
Back in 2020, I asked a loved one (who are well off with money) for $5,000 loan. $2,000 was to pay off credit cards and the remainder was going to be stored for emergency. Our goal was to repay them asap. Instead, they told me to go bankrupt and to deal with not having to move apartments for 5 years. We even asked to live in their basement for one year to help us get back on track, but they refused that as well. Later that year we got into a car accident and our car was totaled. We once again, asked those loved ones if they can help us find a car. They offered us their car for $5k but we couldn't afford it. Later we found out they sold that same car the following month for $3k.
It's now 2024, and we're living in an apartment where all you smell is weed and cigarettes because that's what we can afford, "thanks" to covid and the inflation. I am taking my four boys to a daycare, my husband is working full time, and because of bills, we're still in this cycle of paying off debt, bills, and unable to save. Oh and get this, the loved ones that refused us the loan, bought themselves a $42k car in cash, and it's collecting dust in their garage because they're "afraid of getting it scratched". I'm happy for them, and understand that it's their money and they can do as they please with it, but $2k would have helped us out.
We moved states on June because my husband accepted a great job offer. As for me, I currently stay home with my four toddlers. If I worked, daycare would have charged us about $4k per month for their services. Sadly, on October, my husband's job had to cut people off and since he had the least seniority, he was the first one to be cut off.
We are now waiting for him to start his new job. Unfortunately, we had bills to pay during his time out of employment.
All we need is $2k to pay rent and anything above that would helps us get back onto our feet.
