Hello- Domestic Violence is Ugly. It is not pretty and it happens too often in our world. My name is Teresa L'Heureux. I am an animal lover, car buff and fitness enthusiast but, most importantly, I am a Domestic Violence Survivor. I have been quiet too long about my abuse. My book, My Rock My Hard Place, is in in its 2nd printing now. It tells my story of the darkness of domestic violence and how I was able to navigate my way through to see the light and let my healing continue. It is my mission to be loud and speak out about this global issue that transcends all demographics. I am hoping that my book helps those to get past their trauma and reclaim their dreams and take their lives off pause.
As a Domestic Violence Awareness Advocate, I want to empower and support victims, survivors and those we love through my book, workshops, in person retreats as well as speaking engagements. I was not able to leave my toxic situation because I had furbabies and I was not leaving them behind. Almost 70% of the victims stay in an abusive relationship due to not wanting to leave their pets behind. I have two rescue huskies now, Akira and Hachi, who both suffered abuse due to Domestic Violence situations. Hachi was an 8 week old puppy when he was so severely beaten that he lost his eye.
I will use my funding to help with costs of our bi-monthly virtual workshops, in person retreats as well as speaking engagements and supporting DV shelters and animal shelters across the country to allow victims to have their pets with them so they are all safe and they can stay together.
We are now officially a designated 501c3- SRT FOUNDATION!!
