Many of us have been touched by the humble and selfless love that Dan (a kind homeless gentleman in the Arnold/Imperial area) has for his dog Bentley.  As i posted questions about his story, I was struck by the fact that every single person noted how kind he is, that he does not ASK for help, and that his dog Bentley is his best friend.

We are raising funds to help support hotel stays and/or potentially housing if the funds allow to help him get on his feet.  Funds can also be used for gift cards, dog food, essential health supplies, etc.

This week definitely kept us on our toes. With the severe storms rolling through, we were all holding our breath for Dan and Bentley in the camper — but thankfully, all is well.

We also have a bright spot to celebrate:

Dan received his SNAP card this week, which is a huge step and one less thing to worry about.

And now we head into May… which is going to be a VERY busy month medically for both Dan and Bentley. Appointments, treatments, follow‑ups — it’s a lot, but we’re ready for it. One step at a time, one win at a time.

Thank you for being here every Friday, every week, every milestone. Your support is what keeps this whole journey moving.

There have been so many smiles around Dan and Bentley’s camper lately. Dan has been organizing nonstop — he even went back through the things he kept and decided to purge even more. Watching him take these steps on his own has been incredible. We are so proud of his progress.

He is absolutely in LOVE with the special items donated by people here on the page — his outdoor rug, the umbrella (so the ladies don’t get too hot when we visit), clothing, grill, and of course the leaf blower. He uses that thing constantly to keep his rugs and space clean. The pride he’s taking in his home is something you can feel the moment you walk up.

We’ve also had several doctor appointments this week, with more coming tomorrow and next week. It’s a lot, but he’s handling everything with such determination.

As we head into $5 Friday, every bit of support helps keep Dan and Bentley stable while we continue navigating appointments, paperwork, and the road toward full independence. This community has already changed their lives — and you can see it in every smile.  I am waiting for t-shirt prices and then I will post this for everyone.

APRIL 17TH:  We have several important updates to share this week.

🏡 Settling Into Their New Home
Dan has been busy organizing his new home, making sure everything has a place and that the space feels comfortable and functional. It’s been a lot of work, but he’s making real progress and taking pride in every step. We even caught him vacuuming the outdoor rug outside.

🐾 Bentley’s Heartworm Treatment
Bentley received his first heartworm injection and handled it like a champ. He’s been tired — which is expected — and he’s staying calm just as the vet ordered. This is a huge milestone in getting him healthy again and his last treatments, will be 1 month from now.

💡 Electrical Fixes
We were able to fix the electrical short, and now we just need to replace one light fixture to finish that project completely. Thank you to Richard for the help!!!

📝 Social Security Challenges
We wish we had better news here.
Dan’s appointment this week ended with Social Security telling him they would not help him apply for SSI in person. He now has to wait for a phone appointment on May 11th, and they confirmed it will take at least six months to get benefits reinstated once the application is submitted.

The one small positive:
Dan was able to change his address, and we finally learned where his missing checks were sent. We are hoping they arrive before early next week, because these checks are critical — we will be short on pad rent every month until SSI is back in place.

🩺 Looking Ahead
We have several medical appointments next week, and we’ll keep pushing through every challenge as it comes.
