Today was also a big milestone: Dan officially moved out of the hotel. 

He’s already been outside raking his “yard” (with his pooper scooper, of course) and going through all of his things. Bentley is right there supervising every move.

As we head into $5 Friday, we’re continuing to raise funds to help cover Dan’s rent at the RV park while we wait for SSI to be approved. Every $5 truly makes a difference in keeping him stable and safe.

💙 A Night We Will Never Forget

We’ve been holding onto a very big secret… and tonight, we finally got to share it.

Dan and Bentley walked into their FOREVER home this evening. Even writing that feels surreal. To say it was special doesn’t come close. The five of us who started this journey together were all there, and Jerry was able to bring Dan over — a moment none of us will ever forget.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dan truly speechless, but tonight he was. We all were. There were tears, hugs, and that quiet kind of joy that fills a room when something life‑changing finally happens. And Bentley? He walked in like he’d been waiting for this place his whole life.

I don’t know how to thank a community that has given and given and given — not for recognition, not for credit, but simply to make two lives better. I’ve watched this support transform Dan and Bentley. I’ve watched them stand a little taller, smile a little easier, and feel the dignity of being seen and valued.

We’re not done. They still need us. There are still gaps in benefits and shortfalls we’ll have to navigate. But tonight, one of the heaviest burdens — the fear of where they will live — is gone.

Tonight, we celebrate.  

Tonight, we breathe.  

Tonight, we say to this incredible support team: you matter more than you know.

We were also grateful to have the Leader team with us again, along with Channel 4. If all goes as planned, Dan and Bentley’s story will air on Channel 4 tomorrow (Thursday) between 4:30–5:00 pm, and the Leader will feature them again next week.

We hope everyone is heading into this Easter weekend with peace, joy, and a little extra sunshine. This week brought some truly amazing news for Dan and Bentley.

 

🏡 Housing Update — A HUGE Step Forward

The RV park journey has taken a turn for the better.  

The first park we were accepted into only allowed a 1‑year stay, and we were still on the waitlist for the permanent park.  

 

But this week… we got the call we’ve been praying for.  

A spot in the permanent RV park will open in about a month!  

 

That means:  

- Dan and Bentley will move into the mobile home briefly  

- Then transition straight into their forever home at the permanent park  

- No more bouncing, no more uncertainty, no more waitlists  

 

🐾 Bentley’s Medical Care

Bentley has his first heartworm injection on April 13th.  

Dan is starting crate training soon so that once Bentley finishes treatment and things settle, Dan can begin to work without worry. They’re both working so hard.

 

🪪 Social Security

We head to Social Security on April 16th to (hopefully!) get things moving in the right direction for SSI.
